2nd Russian Documentary Film Showcase in Texas: “Images of Russia”

Dedicated to Alexander Solzhenitsyn.

When: October 20 – 25, 2008

Five documentaries will be screened in four cities in Texas – Houston, Dallas, Austin and College Station.

We are honored to present our three distinguished guests and prominent leaders in Russian Documentary Film world – Sergey Miroshnichenko, Andrey Shemyakin and Maria Miro. Sergey Miroshnichenko – Honored Artist of Russia, is Emmy award – winning documentary film director and professor in State Institute of Cinematography in Moscow. Andrey Shemyakin is a very known documentary film scholar, producer, cinema critic, Head of the Department of Modern Russian Cinema in Russian Film Institute, and also the Director of the Center of Visual Culture in Russian State Humanitarian Institute (RGGU), as well as creative director of the TV program “Documentary camera” on national channel “Culture”. Maria Miro is a young talented director. Her movie Coal Dust won Young Talent Competition award for an extraordinary documentary film talent and received honorable mention by Leipzig Film Festival International Jury in 2007.
