Hans Graf, Musical Director of Houston Symphony 2001-2013 and now Conductor Laureate is back in town!

Maestro will participate in University of Houston Texas Musical Festival and lead Festival Orchestra in Rachmaninoff’s Symphony No. 1.

In conjunction with this concert we organize the Evening with maestro Graf dedicated to Sergey Rachmaninoff.

In the program:

  • Presentation by Hans Graf;
  • Excerpts from the documentary about the composer;
  • Preludes by Sergey Rachmaninoff.

Performers: Tali Morgulis, professor of piano, and her student, Sonya Bondouil, Moores School of Music.

Sergei Rachmaninoff was a Russian composer, pianist, and conductor. Rachmaninoff is widely considered to be one of the finest pianists of his day and, as a composer, one of the last great representatives of Romanticism in Russian classical music. Early influences of Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, and other Russian composers gave way to a thoroughly personal idiom that included a pronounced lyricism, expressive breadth, structural ingenuity, and a tonal palette of rich, distinctive orchestral colors.
