SUMMARY:LINE. TEXTURE. FORM.
DESCRIPTION:A Dialogue in Textile and Ceramic Art\nFeaturing Irina Savostenko and Saida Fagala\nOpening: Friday, November 20, at 7:30 PM\nWine will be served.\nOn view: November 20 – December 31, 2026\nCultural Center “Our Texas” located at 2337 Bissonnet Street, Houston, TX 77005\nTwo Artists. Two Mediums. One Creative Dialogue.\nThe Cultural Center “Our Texas” invites you to discover LINE. TEXTURE. FORM., an exhibition bringing together the intricate textile compositions of Irina Savostenko and the expressive ceramic sculptures of Saida Fagala.\nThrough two seemingly different materials—thread and clay—the artists explore the beauty of texture, the language of form, and the emotional power of artistic expression.\nIrina Savostenko — Painting with Thread\nIrina Savostenko transforms ordinary threads into extraordinary works of art. Using cotton, wool, acrylic, and polyester fibers, she creates richly textured compositions filled with color, rhythm, and dimension.\nHer distinctive technique originated in childhood, when her grandmother taught her to create pictures from straw. Today, every centimeter of her artwork is meticulously arranged by hand, combining the sensitivity of painting with the dimensionality of sculpture.\n“I work with color like a painter, but I use thread like a sculptor. The relief feels alive and warm—it’s something you just want to touch,” the artist explains.\nHer creations invite viewers to experience the warmth, tranquility, and tactile beauty of textile art.\nSaida Fagala — Bringing Clay to Life\nCeramic artist Saida Fagala explores the expressive possibilities of clay through sculptural portraits, human figures, and decorative vessels.\nComing from a family of artists, Fagala combines artistic tradition with a distinctive contemporary vision. Her imaginative ceramic works capture human emotions, personalities, and moods through expressive forms, subtle details, and vibrant colors.\nEach sculpture tells its own story, transforming clay into a captivating expression of individuality and imagination.\nWhere Thread Meets Clay\nOne artist builds form through delicate layers of thread; the other shapes it from clay. Despite their different techniques, both share a passion for texture, craftsmanship, and the expressive possibilities of their materials.\nLINE. TEXTURE. FORM. creates a fascinating dialogue between textile and ceramic art, inviting visitors to discover unexpected connections between two artistic worlds.\nThe exhibition is free and open to the public.\nGallery Hours:\nMonday – Friday: 9:30 AM – 3:00 PM\nSaturday, Sunday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM\n
