The book’s release coincides with the 100th anniversary of the birth of Yermek Serkebayev, the best-known voice of Kazakh opera, a laureate of the State Prizes of the USSR and the Kazakh SSR, and a professor at the Conservatory.

The first edition was published in 2009, during the singer’s lifetime. It was written based on Yermek Serkebayev’s own recollections of his family, childhood, work, and colleagues, as well as on the recollections of the book’s author, Yermek’s daughter, Irina.

The second edition continues the conversation about the life and work of the outstanding artist and includes new chapters: Yermek Serkebayev and His Era; Soviet Patriotic Music; Chamber Music; Kazakh Folk Song; Teachers.

The book is intended for a broad readership, as well as for teachers and students of musical institutions who wish to study the history of Soviet-era music and the biography and work of Yermek Serkebayev. The book is written in Russian.

At the first book presentation in the US, you will be able to see unique family photographs and footage, first presented to the general public in Almaty on August 20, 2026, as well as meet Yermek Serkebayev’s descendants and purchase copies of the book.
