16th Annual Documentary Showcase
The Program of the festival includes two movies – Eastern Front by Vitaliy Mansky and Mariupol. Reconstruction by Svitlana Lishchynska.
The program of our 16th documentary film festival will be dedicated to the Ukrainian fight against Russian aggression for liberty and independence.
About the movie Eastern Front:
Eastern Front has two authors. Vitaly Mansky, a venerable documentary filmmaker, laureate and participant in festivals, head of Artdocfest, and Evgeny Titarenko, call sign Rezhik (that is, director), is a film producer and teacher who went to the front in 2014 and shoots films there, but at the same time works as part of medical brigade of the volunteer battalion “Hospitallers”.
Mansky filmed in Western Ukraine – in a village where relatives of Titarenko and his comrades-in-arms were evacuated. Titarenko filmed directly during the fighting, in the thick of it. Shocking from the first to the last frame, the contrast of two realities is the filament of the “Eastern Front”.
About the movie Mariupol. Reconstruction:
Svitlana Lishchynska a Ukrainian film director. She has worked for more than 25 years for the leading Ukrainian TV channels. Since 2017, Svitlana has been engaged in film production. She has directed several short and middle length documentaries and written two full-length feature scripts. During the period of the Russian invasion, Svitlana is filming a documentary about her family from Mariupol.
Mariupol. Reconstruction is a film about a lost city. Director Svetlana Lischinskaya shares her memories and tells the story of her relationship with the city. She meets with refugees from Mariupol to remember with them what the city was like before it was destroyed by Russian troops.
