After decades behind the lens, Anatoliy Kosterev reveals his personal photographic exploration of the Lone Star State. In his first solo exhibition at Our Texas, this award-winning photographer invites Houstonians to experience Texas as he sees it—through a lens sharpened by science, creativity, and a deep emotional connection to his adopted home.
Kosterev, originally from Semiluki near Voronezh, Russia, has pursued photography since the age of 14. He developed a style uniquely blended between science and art during his studies at the Moscow Institute for Physics and Technology. His scientific background in optics and spectroscopy informs a dynamic photographic practice that includes HDR, drone imaging, macro photography, and more. His subjects are equally diverse: from dramatic Texas landscapes to delicate close-ups of insects and flowers.
In “My Texas” exhibit, every image was taken in Texas—yet no two are alike. The exhibit captures the multifaceted nature of the state: vibrant cities, serene countrysides, fleeting wildlife, and quiet human moments. It is a visual journey shaped by emotion, light, and the experimental flair that defines Anatoliy’s work.
Admission is free.
The gallery is open Monday to Friday 9:30 am – 3 pm, Saturday 9 am – 2 pm, Sunday – closed.
