RACHMANINOFF’S 150TH ANNIVERSARY CONCERT / OSIP NIKIFOROV, PIANO
On May 11, at 7:30 pm, the Cultural Center “Our Texas” will host a solo concert by renowned Russian pianist Osip Nikiforov, commemorating the 150th anniversary of the great composer Sergei Rachmaninoff. The program features some of Rachmaninoff’s most famous pieces, including several Preludes and Piano Sonata No. 2 Op. 36 in B-flat minor (1913–1st version).
Osip Nikiforov is a distinguished pianist who has won numerous awards in national and international competitions. He studied under the tutelage of the world-renowned pianist Yefim Bronfman at Manhattan School of Music.Currently, he is a Malcolm W. Perkins Teaching Fellow in the Doctor of Musical Arts program at Rice University, studying with Jon Kimura Parker
Jon Kimura Parker, piano virtuoso and Professor of Piano at The Shepherd School of Music, Rice University in Houston, will talk about Rachamninoff and his musical legacy.
