The Cultural Center “Our Texas” invites you to experience a rare evening of classical chamber music with the concert “Dialogues in Sound: An Evening of French and Russian Music,” taking place on Saturday, October 25, at 7:00 PM.
This concert brings together the expressive musical traditions of France and Russia through the works of master composers, including Glinka, Tchaikovsky, Debussy, Pierné, and Cahuzac. From the nostalgic charm of Tchaikovsky’s The Seasons to the shimmering Impressionism of Debussy’s Images, the program promises an evening of beauty and fluid conversation between clarinet and piano.
Two distinguished musicians will bring this dialogue to life:
Alexander Potiomkin, clarinetist and longtime member of the Houston Symphony, has performed with major orchestras including the Israel Philharmonic, Kansas City Symphony, and Tel Aviv Symphony. A native of Ukraine and a graduate of Rice University, Potiomkin is also a dedicated music educator.
Inna Moiseeva, a St. Petersburg–trained pianist and prize-winning collaborative artist, has performed across Europe and the United States, and is currently based in Bloomington, Indiana. Her recent performances include collaborations in Munich, Pittsburgh, and St. Petersburg’s House of Radio.
Program Highlights:
Glinka – Sonata for viola and piano (arranged for clarinet)
Tchaikovsky – Two Pieces from The Seasons: January: At the Fireside; December: Christmas
Debussy – Images, Book I
Cahuzac – Cantilène for clarinet and piano
Pierné – Canzonetta for clarinet and piano
We encourage early reservations—seating is limited!
Lilia Khakimova and C. Robert Bunch made a significant contribution that allowed us to acquire a beautiful new baby grand piano, which will be showcased in the upcoming series.
